Experimental study of decanol droplets pattern formation in electric field

Studium vlivu elektrického pole na tvorbu obrazců dekanolových kapek

ANOTACE

In nature, we can observe pattern formation on various spatial and temporal scales. Many types of patterns like spots, stripes, waves and dendrites can appear in both biological and inanimate world. We aim to study such non-equilibrium dynamics of a novel pattern forming system based on a 1-decanol droplet placed in a solution of alkaline decanoate. Recently, we have found that when the system is open to the environment and the evaporation of water from decanoate solution occurs we observe dramatic morphological changes of the decanol droplet. The aim of present work will be to investigate the effect of electric field on the pattern formation, namely on the growth of decanol droplets tentacles.
